Fr. Mark Soehner, OFM
Fr. Mark Soehner was born in Dayton, Ohio. He entered the Franciscan Order after graduating from Mercy College of Detroit in 1980. He professed vows in 1981. He received his theological education from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and was ordained in 1987. Fr. Mark also earned a degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College in Maryland. Fr. Mark has worked as a university campus minister, as a homeless minister, as a spiritual director and as a licensed professional counselor. From 1995 until 2008 Fr. Mark was the pastor of St. Aloysius in the heart of Detroit's downtown business district, serving the homeless and the elderly poor. In 2005 Fr. Mark became a “clustered pastor” of three churches in downtown Detroit: St. Aloysius, St. Patrick and St. Dominic. In 2008 Fr. Mark became a formation director and the Guardian of St. Joseph Friary in Chicago. That same year he was elected to his Provincial Council. He currently resides in Hyde Park, Chicago.
