PARISH FINANCE COMMITTEE
 
 
 
I. MISSION STATEMENT (brief statement of purpose)
 
The MISSION of the PARISH FINANCE COMMITTEE is to advise
the pastor on the financial affairs of the parish in creative support of the Parish Vision Statement, consistent with the spirituality of Christian stewardship.
 
II. GOAL (“end-product”… desired outcome for those to whom this ministry is directed)
 
The GOAL of the PARISH FINANCE COMMITTEE is for the staff, PPCM and parish-at-large to be aware of: (1) the financial state of the parish; (2) compliance with Archdiocesan requirements; (3) financial viability of the parish.
 
III. OBJECTIVES (corollaries, strategies, priorities flowing from mission and goal)
 
1. To provide for a system of leadership succession, representation on the commission, and implementation of ministry’s mission and objectives.
2. For committee members to be motivated by a spirit of Christian stewardship in handling parish financial and budgetary responsibilities.
3. To keep pastor, staff, PPCM and parish informed of financial and budgetary matters.
4. To prepare and file financial reports in accord with Archdiocesan regulations.
5. To prepare and monitor budget compliance.
6. To interact with the Archdiocesan Department of Finance in matters of finances, budget and funding.
7. To interact with parish ministries which seek assistance and guidance in budgetary and funding matters.
8. To secure necessary staff support to fulfill parish financial and budgetary responsibilities.
9. To make recommendations to pastor on potential members for the Finance Committee.
 
 
 
 
IV.     SERVICES (programs, actions, projects)
 
1. Publish the financial condition of the parish to parishioners through quarterly communications, and file quarterly reports and special solicitations.
2. File timely reports/payments with Federal and State agencies and with the Archdiocesan Department of Finance.
3. Confer with designated parish ministries in their budget preparations and funding needs.
4. Interact with the Archdiocesan Department of Finance regarding future major funding initiatives.*
5. Create job descriptions for financial support staff
of parish administration, and assist in interviewing candidates.
(*Currently fund development is part of Parish Finance Committee’s mission. In the future it may be helpful to organize fund development as a separate ministry)
