BOY SCOUTS MINISTRY
I. MINISTRY STATEMENT (brief statement
of purpose)
The MISSION of the BOY SCOUTS MINISTRY
is to teach skills and prepare young
boys to make ethical choices by instilling
in them the values of the Scout Oath,
Scout Law, and the values of the Catholic
Church.
II. GOAL (“end-product”

whom ministry is directed)
The GOAL of the BOY SCOUTS MINISTRY
is for boy scouts to learn how to make
ethical choices based on the Scout Oath,
Scout Law, and values of the Catholic
Church, as well as to learn practical
skills for living.
III. OBJECTIVES (corollaries,
strategies, priorities flowing from
mission and goal)
1. Providing quality leadership through
thoughtful selection of leaders and
through adequate leadership training.
2. Enhancing the character, self-confidence,
and skills of those in the scouting
program.
3. Coordination between parish ministries
and scouting units to assure effective
implementation of service projects.
4. Developing effective strategies for
recruiting both members and parents.
5. Promoting parental involvement on
committees of scouting units to help
assure quality programs for the scouts.
6. Pursuing fund raising for the scouting
units within the guidelines of Boy Scouts
and the parish.
IV. SERVICES (programs, actions,
projects)
1. Regular and special meetings and
outings with scout units.
2. Service projects, such as fall parish
picnic, Spring cleanup for seniors.
3. Extensive recruiting of members AND
parents, especially focusing on the
first week of school in the Fall.
4. Developing and implementing strategies
to increase parental involvement, especially
in Cub Scouts
