A LETTER TO
THE PASTORAL COUNCIL OF MINISTRIES,
THE PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL, THE PARISH
STAFF, MINISTRY LEADERS THE LONG RANGE
PLANNING COMMITTEE, AND PARISHIONERS
OF MARY, SEAT OF WISDOM PARISH
These Ministry Profiles 2002 plus
A Strategic Plan of Opportunities for
Mary, Seat of Wisdom Parish is truly
a “labor of love” that has
taken place over several years. it began,
as the history tells you, with the Long
Range Planning Committee setting its
sights on the future of the parish.
In several conversations that I had
with Don Barry and Bill Krol of the
LRPC, they offered a sense of vision
for such a work.
Through many dialogues with the LRPC,
the PPC, and the Parish Staff this work
became a priority for all involved.
For several years the PPCM and the many
ministries and services of the parish
have worked long and hard on the details
of the profiles. They went through five
reviews to make sure elements of the
survey of September of 2000 from the
parishioners were included as well as
the hopes and desires of the ministries
and services. I want to thank the delegates,
the chairpersons of the commissions,
the parish staff, and Fr. Ted Stone,
Don Wilhelm, Bill Krol, and Jack Spatafora
for their individual contributions to
profiles and plan. In the process, the
work was communicated to the parish
through the Topics, and our newsletter,
Words of Wisdom.
The Profiles and the Plan in its present
form should be seen as a working document.
Future parish leaders will continue
to use this guide as a way to know how
our parish follows the inspiration of
the Holy Spir-it, as well as to guide
it through its day to day operations.
These same future parish leaders will
be able to build, expand, and refine
what is written in this book.
The Church in the United States at this
time has been critically challenged
to listen to the Spirit and to find
new ways to collaborate at setting a
vision and a plan for its future. May
this parish, given its experiences in
living out God’s plan for his
people, take its place in the leadership
of the local church of Chicago through
our time, talent, and treasure.
Sincerely,
April, 2002
/s/ Fr. Ron Kalas
Pastor
