GIRL SCOUTS MINISTRY
I. MISSION STATEMENT (brief statement
of purpose)
The MISSION of the GIRL SCOUTS MINISTRY
is to guide girls in building character,
learning skills, developing a social
conscience as citizens plus fostering
in them commitment to service, parish
and community volunteerism and leadership
development.
II. GOAL (“end-product”

whom this ministry is directed)
The GOAL of the GIRL SCOUTS MINISTRY
is for girls to widen their horizons,
develop a positive self-image, a conviction
of personal potential, as well as life-long
friendships and values that embrace
a Catholic world-view.
III.
OBJECTIVES (corollaries, strategies,
priorities flowing from mission and
goal)
1. Enhancing the character, self-confidence,
and skills of those in the scouting
program.
2. Promoting parental involvement to
help assure quality programs for the
scouts.
3. Developing effective strategies for
recruiting girl scouts, parents and
leaders.
4. Providing quality leadership through
thoughtful selection of leaders and
through adequate leadership training.
5. Identifying service opportunities
with the parish and wider community
and to participate in the planning and
execution of same.
6. Pursuing fund raising for the scouting
units within the guidelines of Girl
Scouts and the parish.
IV. SERVICES (programs, actions,
projects)
1. Establishing grade-level troop groups
to build community, to participate in
cooperative learning experiences, and
to complete Girl Scouts program projects
and activities.
2. Extensive recruiting of members AND
parents, especially focusing on the
first week of school in the Fall.
3. Participating in Chicago-area opportunities
for girls to learn new skills and broaden
their awareness of citizenship responsibilities.
4. Providing opportunities for girls
to earn special religious awards.
5. Participating in Girl Scout-approved
fund-raising activities.
6. Training girls and volunteers in
leadership skills.
