for parishioners to deepen their understanding,
familiarity with and love for God’s
Word expressed in holy scripture.
II. GOAL (“end-product”
…desired outcome for those to
whom this ministry is directed)
The GOAL of the BIBLICAL MINISTRIES
is for parishioners to deepen a sustained
love for and understanding of sacred
scripture as a core foundation for Catholic
faith along with sacramental life.
III. OBJECTIVES (corollaries,
strategies, priorities flowing from
mission and goal)
1. To establish a coordinating committee
to implement mission and goal, provide
for representation on the commission,
and a system of leadership succession.
2. To encourage parishioners to read
and reflect beforehand on the scripture
texts assigned to the Liturgy of the
Word for Sunday Masses.
3. To help parishioners understand that
Christ “is present in his word,
since it is he himself who speaks when
the holy scriptures are read in the
church.” (Vatican Council 11,
Const. on Sacred Liturgy, art. 7)
4. To encourage parishioners during
the Liturgy of the Word to focus attention
on the scripture themselves as well
as on the homily.
5. To promote bible study groups and
encourage parishioners to read and study
the bible.
6. To use sacred scripture as base for
parish faith-sharing groups.
IV. SERVICES (programs, actions,
projects)

program: an aid for reflecting on the
Sundays scripture texts for the Liturgy
of the Word.
