LITURGICAL PLANNING & CELEBRATION
MINISTRY
I. MISSION STATEMENT (brief statement
of purpose)
The MISSION of the LITURGICAL PLANNING
& CELEBRATION MINISTRY is to plan
and coordinate the details of all major
liturgies - Sundays & Feast Days
- setting the spirit for community worship
by integrating it with the Church’s
Liturgical Year and with specific ways
the parish is currently living out the
mystery of Christ.
II. GOAL (“end-product”
…desired outcome for those to
whom ministry is directed)
The GOAL of the LITURGICAL PLANNING
& CELEBRATION MINISTRY is for parishioners
to be drawn into the mystery of Christ
around the Table of Word and Eucharist
through liturgies that unite us to one
another in Christ and energize us spiritually,
thus reflecting the Parish Vision Statement
which declares: “We choose to
celebrate our relationship with Christ
and the Church through prayerful and
life-giving liturgies.”
III. OBJECTIVES (corollaries,
strategies, priorities flowing from
mission and goal)
1. To increase liturgical ministers’
awareness of their relationship with
Christ and the Church when they act
as ministers, knowing that Christ is
praying in them as their Head, and praying
with them as the community gives thanks
and praise to the Father for Christ’s
death and resurrection and our discipleship
with him.
2. To bring staff and leaders of liturgical
ministries together to decide on themes
and rituals for liturgical seasons,
including Ordinary Time, and to assure
that all liturgical ministries coordinate
their functions in a harmonious and
life-giving manner.
3. To provide guidelines, formation
and information to liturgical planning
teams to enable them to be more effective
in accomplishing their tasks.
4. To provide information and background
to liturgical ministers for a deeper
understanding of liturgical worship
in light of the mystery of Christ.
5. To collaborate with other ministries
in developing ways to enhance the liturgy
of the Word.
6. To explore the merits of a staff
position for Parish Liturgical Coordinator.
IV. SERVICES (programs, actions,
projects)
1. Coordination of Sunday liturgies,
liturgical ministers, and sacristans.
2. Calling together staff and leaders
of liturgical
ministries to plan the themes and rituals
for each liturgical season, including
ordinary Time..
3. Working with and providing guidelines
for liturgy planning teams and giving
background on the spirituality aspects
of liturgical worship.
4. To plan and conduct annual spirituality
dinner and evening of reflection for
all liturgical ministers, and publicize
liturgical matters for parish-at-large.
