Mission Statement

In faithfulness to Jesus Christ and His Gospel, the Mary, Seat of Wisdom, Social Concerns Ministry provides support services for any individual or family in the community whose needs prevent them from realizing their full potential in the family of God.

The spirit of love, concern and reverence for the dignity of every person motivates us to serve as instruments of the Holy Spirit, bringing spiritual and material support to those to whom we minister.

Goal

The goal of the Social Concerns Ministry is to assist those in need in becoming more self-sufficient by providing temporary emergency material support and aid.

Services

The Social Concerns Ministry:

• Conducts an annual coat drive.
• Provides emotional support to the poor and disadvantaged.
• Conducts a food drive during the week of the Thanksgiving holiday.
• Sponsors an Advent Gift project.
• Provides referrals to parishioners in need of errand or doctor visit transportation and home visits.
• Organizes the Holy Thursday Simple Supper.
• Assists the needy individuals and families by providing such items as emergency rental assistance, food coupons, pharmacological assistance, emergency transportation, emergency lodging and referrals to nearby social service agencies.
• Sponsors the MSW Blood Drive.
