A generous person will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.

-Proverbs 22:9

Uncle Pete Ministries is an outgrowth of the charitable work that Pete Zonsius performed for over sixty years of his life.  Generations of people have been touched by his simple approach:  find the people who have things and get them to the people who need them.  The primary ministry is centered on brown bag sack dinners.  Volunteers are asked to make brown bag dinners for the less fortunate, which are then delivered to over 25 locations, mainly no the north and west sides of Chicago, including families, food pantries, soup kitchens, schools, homes for those recently released from prison, homeless shelters, and the homeless.

Mary, Seat of Wisdom collects brown bag dinners several times throughout the year.  Empty brown bags are distributed one weekend, and dinners are collected the following weekend for distribution. Each sack's contents costs a modest $4-5, but greatly benefit the hungry in our community.
